New Digital Single 'Forgive, Forget'

29.03.10
Damien Leith announced today he will be releasing a studio recording of the Leonard Cohen classic 'Hallelujah' for the first time, as an exclusive digital bundle with his new single 'Forgive, Forget'.

'Hallelujah' was one of Leith's signature songs on his winning journey on Australian Idol in 2006 and this is the first time he has recorded it in the studio. 'Forgive, Forget', from Leith's album Remember June, will be available digitally on Friday April 2nd, one day after Leith releases his second novel, also titled Remember June.

On recording the song, Leith said, "'Hallelujah' is my all time favourite song. The lyrics and the melody are both haunting and magical and I am thrilled to release the track recorded in full for the first time ever."

Damien Leith has been touring Australian on his 'Keys and Strings' tour, a show that sees Leith on piano and guitar, accompanied by violin and tin whistle. On this tour, Leith performs songs from his number one albums, including his latest critically acclaimed album Remember June. The live show also features well-known Irish songs that have inspired Leith musically.

Damien has just returned from a one-week promotional trip in Dublin for to launch his album Remember June, which will be released this month in Ireland.

Next week Damien will perform 'Hallelujah' live at this year's Good Friday Appeal at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne. The Good Friday Appeal raises funds for Victoria's Royal Children's Hospital and will be broadcast on the Seven Network on Friday, April 2nd.

Remember June is Leith's fourth album and on April 1st, 2010 Leith will release his novel of the same name. Remember June is Leith's second novel, following on from One More Time which was released in 2007. Remember June is set in Ireland in 1990 and tells the story of a family who escaped the troubles of Northern Ireland ten years earlier.
